The Lord Darling Trophy was fished for at Blagdon by 13 members and their guests on Sunday September 3rd. It was a very wet and cold day and fishing was very difficult with a total of only 6 fish caught at an average of 2lb 11oz. Mike Smith was the most successful fisherman with 3 rainbow trout and Pete McGuckian was presented with the Lord Darling Trophy for his 3lb 2oz rainbow.
This year, there was a change to the catering with Jenny West and Jane Pope preparing and serving an excellent 3 course supper which was very much appreciated by some very tired fishermen. We are also very grateful to the staff at Woodford Lodge for arranging the room and lighting the very welcoming fire.
Unfortunately Paul Middle had to make a trip to hospital having lacerated his hand unhooking a pike caught by Alfred Pope, his boat partner.
